Hitting 150 million daily users after only four months, Instagram stories launches its biggest update: Live videos.
Users will now be able to broadcast in real-time and connect with their followers by live video stream. Sounds familiar? That’s because people are already doing it every day on Facebook, Instagram’s parent company since 2012.
But here’s the difference: each Insta-broadcast will vanish as soon as the recording finishes, without leaving a trace. This would give the community a chance “to connect with friends and followers, in a comfortable, fun, and low-pressure way”, says Instagram.
So let’s get to the point and see how to set up your self-destructing video.
1. Tap on the “Your Story” profile photo
2. Start Live video
Swipe left to get to Instagram’s broadcasting feature.
Instagram will notify your followers as soon as you go Live.
3. Manage your broadcast
At the top of the screen you can find the number of users joining your live video.
You can either reply to your followers and start a conversation with them or close any comment by tapping on the three dots at the bottom right.
OR KICK SOMEONE OUT BY PRESSING THE USERNAME!
4. End your broadcast
When you’re done with your live-video, simply tap the End button at the top-right corner of the screen.
And that is it, your live-stream will disappear as if nothing has ever happened.
Don’t forget to check the Instagram Explore page for all the best live videos happening right now. However, if you are not in any rush to watch your friend’s broadcast before it ends, make sure to disable notifications by holding down on his or her profile photo at the top of your feed.
